After 17 years as a member of the Triunfo Water and Sanitation District (TWSD) Board of Directors and its current board chair, Janna Orkney announced she is stepping down effective January 29, 2024.
“TWSD is more efficient, financially sound, and forward-thinking because of Janna’s leadership,” says TWSD General Manager Mark Norris. “Her efforts always focused on providing the best services for our customers. She will be missed.”
Orkney was first elected to TWSD’s board in 2006. Since then, she has served four terms on the board, including five times as chair of the Las Virgenes/Triunfo Joint Powers Authority. Orkney played a key role in the decision to build the Las Virgenes-Triunfo Pure Water Project, which will improve the reliability of the potable water supply for both districts.
One of her other major accomplishments was to make the district independent and autonomous from the Ventura Regional Sanitation District. Since last year, TWSD has had its own administrative and operational staff and office in the district.
“I thank the district’s residents for allowing me to serve on the board for 17 years,” says Orkney. “I wish the district all the best.”
James Wall, the current TWSD board vice chair, will move into the chair position, and a new vice chair will be selected at the TWSD February 29 board meeting.
