2025 Student Art Calendar Contest

K-12 students who live in or attend school in Oak Park are invited to submit artwork for the Metropolitan Water District’s 2026 calendar. A total of 36 winners in Southern California will be chosen, and their artwork will be featured in a professionally printed calendar, and in a digital library.

The calendar’s theme is “Being Water Wise Is …” which emphasizes the importance of wise and efficient water use both inside and outside the home, at school, in the community, in business and industry, in agriculture, and during recreational activities. Artists are encouraged to reflect themes of water conservation and stewardship in their submissions.

Guidelines for Artwork Submission (from Metropolitan Water)

Only one submission per student.
All artwork must be an original work by the student. Artwork cannot contain traced images or trademarked/copyrighted slogans or images (i.e. cartoon characters, logos, advertising taglines, etc.)
Bold, bright, brilliant colors show up the best. Students may use the following art media: digital art, crayons, markers, pencils, paints, watercolors, chalk, cut paper or fabric.
“Being Water Wise Is …” is the overall theme. A short message may be written on the artwork.
Art with misspelled words will not be selected.
Image must be scanned to at least 300dpi and saved as a TIFF image. Image must be submitted electronically through the online form on this page.
Artwork may depict climate change or various conservation and water wise use: inside or outside of the home or school; in industries or businesses; in the environment (nature); in agriculture; in recreation; cleanliness/proper hygiene.
Examples of conservation: turning off the water while brushing your teeth or taking short showers.
Examples of stewardship: protecting the water from pollution or collecting rainwater in buckets and reusing it to water plants.
Contest facilitators reserve the right to question or disqualify any artwork that is clearly not the work of the student based on their age and grade level.
